This privacy policy explains how Sandro Vogel ("we", "us", or "our") processes personal data when you visit the Monodust website (monodust.xyz) and use the browser-based, sound-reactive generative artwork.

We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Data Collection

  • Hosting and delivery data processed by Vercel, such as IP address, request metadata, user agent, timestamps, and technical logs required to serve and secure the site.
  • No user accounts, no newsletter signup, no advertising trackers, and no client-side analytics configured by us on this site.
  • No cookies are set by us. The artwork stores no personal data in your browser, apart from any images you choose to add yourself, which stay on your device (see “Your own images” below).
  • For convenience, the artwork saves your own display and setup preferences (such as brightness, reactivity and venue settings) locally in your browser's storage. These are functional settings only — no personal data, no identifiers, and no tracking — and they never leave your device or reach any server. You can clear them at any time via your browser, or with the “Reset” control in the setup panel.
  • So the artwork keeps running when the network drops (for example on an exhibition screen), your browser keeps an offline copy of the site's own files — its code, typeface and images — in its local cache. Only files from this site are stored; nothing about you is stored or sent anywhere. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes the copy.

If you grant microphone access, audio is analysed live in your browser only to drive the visuals. We do not record, store, upload, or share microphone audio or raw audio data. Choosing a specific audio input is done on your device; no device information is transmitted. Microphone access is optional; the artwork also runs in silence.

Your own images. In the settings panel you can choose to play your own images. This is entirely optional and happens only on your device:

  • An image you add is opened and processed by your browser alone. It is never uploaded, sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.
  • Your browser keeps a reduced copy (at most 1024 pixels on its longest side) in its own local database (IndexedDB) for this site, so the image is still there on your next visit. The original file is not kept, and neither is its file name.
  • Making that copy discards hidden metadata the original may contain, such as camera details, the date or the location (GPS) where a photo was taken.
  • You can remove your images at any time in the Images section of the settings panel (one by one or all at once), or by clearing this site's data in your browser. If your browser does not allow local storage, the images are kept only until you close the page.
  • Shared setup links never contain your images.

Because this processing happens only on your own device and under your sole control, we do not receive, store or otherwise process your images. Please add only images you are entitled to use, and bear in mind that anyone with access to this browser and device can see them.

Setup presets can be shared as a link. Those links carry only the functional settings above, encoded in the link's “#” fragment, which browsers never send to any server. No personal data is included.

The typeface is served from this site itself. No external font service or other third-party resource is loaded.

External Services and Your Rights

Hosting is provided by Vercel Inc. As a result, technical request data may be processed by Vercel to operate, deliver, and protect the website. Depending on the hosting setup, processing may also take place outside the EU or EEA, including in the United States.

You have rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. For privacy requests, contact: sandrovogel@pm.me

Retention and Updates

Hosting-related technical logs are retained by Vercel according to its platform settings, retention rules, and security requirements. The artwork stores no personal data on your device; only the functional display and setup preferences described above, and any images you chose to add yourself, persist between visits, and only until you remove them or clear this site's data.
